On April 12th I spent three days at California State University, Stanislaus as a visiting artist.
Printmaker Marty Azevedo, who I first met when I was a visiting artist at Ohio State University, is building a really strong undergraduate program there. We printed three editions, gave crits, a lecture, and visited a local comic shop. All in all, I would say this was a very successful visit!
CSU Stanislaus is a small school located in the valley in California. A part of the state I really haven’t been to before.
Marty has an AMAZING shop! So many presses!
Everything is also very clean and organized…very impressive!
Like all good shops, there is plenty of signage to go around…
Marty is also a big fan of comics, Star Wars and all that good stuff…so you can see those inspirations all over the shop…
Screens named after his favorite comic book characters…
Love this silkscreen sign out sheet…
Printmaking has a tech, Andrew Cain…this is his office door…
“CRUSH THE RESISTANCE!”
Great Kaiju themed lithograph by a student…
Poster for this semester’s visiting artists…Marty is definitely being very ambitious with this program, it is impressive! I am glad that Crystal Wagner was coming to visit AFTER me…she is one tough act to follow…
Sound system…almost as convoluted and old as the one we have in the WVU Printshop…
Printshop mascot…
