Drawing at the WVU Children’s Hospital…

This week began what I hope becomes a long term project with the WVU Children’s Hospital.

I drew pictures with a long term patient for an hour a day, everyday this week. I would ask him what his interests were, we looked up examples on my phone and drew. This specific 11 year old was obsessed with Iron Man and the movie “Aliens”. I’ve been having ongoing conversations and learning from the WVU Children’s Hospital about the potential benefits these drawing sessions can have for these chronic patients.

There are challenges to this project, mainly scheduling. So I am hopeful that we can find some kind of semi-regular time to draw more.
