Back in Illinois (part ONE)…

Over Thanksgiving Break, I was able to visit and catch up with a few people in Peoria and Chicago.

On Sunday, November 22 I attended the closing reception for an exhibition at Project 1612 in Peoria. Former WVU Printmaker Alex Martin is a graduate student at Bradley University, studying for his MFA in Printmaking. Alex is also co-organizing the new experimental space Project 1612 in Peoria with fellow graduate student Jessica Bingham. It is so exciting to see something new and experimental in Peoria, and I am really happy to see Alex trying to engage the profession in this way!

Here is Alex describing the space and talking about the current exhibition, an installation by Chicago artist James Chrzan.

The inside of the gallery was totally transformed, there was a double projection of a video the artist made and the floor was completely covered in leaves. Again, this was incredibly exciting to see, great work Alex! Keep it up!
