PRINTWORK 2014…

This weekend I headed up to Pittsburgh to attend the opening reception for the PRINTWORK 2014 juried show at Artists Image Resource.

It is a GREAT show, juried by the one and only Bill Fick.

On a personal note, this is the last year I will be organizing the exhibition. I have organized this show since the start in 2012, and have organized all three exhibitions. It has been a lot of work, but a real joy to help create a wonderful opportunity for my fellow printmakers to show their work, and for the people of Pittsburgh to see some wonderful contemporary prints. Thanks to everyone at AIR for even allowing me the chance to do this, and I hope future PRINTWORK exhibitions will grow in stature!

Of course, before the show I had to visit a comic shop. I went up to Ellwood City to visit New Dimension Comics. Jim Rugg turned me onto this store, and it is WONDERFUL! Absolutely FULL of gems if you are willing to dig a little…

Took in a good haul this weekend.

After New Dimension, I headed over to the Mattress Factory. Next year WVU visiting artist John Pena has an installation there, and it is really great!

Also at the Mattress Factory is this installation/sculpture by Ryder Henry. This kind of space-aged/futuristic/Pittsburgh-esque city floating in space…

As you walked to the back of the gallery space, there are these kinds of space ships? floating in the darkness…

Afterwards, I caught up with Matt Diclemente, a WVU alum who loves pinball as much as I do. We headed to Lawrenceville to play…a perfect end to a full day!
