On Tuesday December 06th, Chicago based poster artist Justin Santora visited our Advanced Printmaking class.
Justin was gracious enough to take some time out of his busy schedule to talk to us about his career and give some advice. I think my students really appreciated his honesty about life as an independent artist and the path he took to get here. Thank you Justin for your time and candor, we enjoyed our time with you!
On a personal note, a few months back I was cleaning my office, and I found an old attendance book from my time teaching at Moraine Valley Community College in Illinois. One of the names in my Intro to Intaglio class was Justin Santora. I was already a fan of his work, and have bought some of his prints in the past, so I sent him a quick email asking if he was the same person, and it turns out he is.
I can’t take credit for anything that Justin has accomplished over the years, I only worked with him for one semester. But it is crazy to think about the people you come in contact with in this line of work, and its great when they are willing to give a little of their time to you and your students.
