The MAPC Journal is accepting submissions for the upcoming 2017 Fall/Winter issue!

Theme: “Text and Image: Mining Traditions from Hogarth to Spiegelman“

The MAPC Journal seeks submissions on the epigrammatic mash-up of the graphic and textual. The history combining these forms of expression is endlessly tied to the print, ranging from satire and the comic to graphic novels, poster art, and other fine art printmaking. Feel free to submit articles, images, relevant exhibition and book reviews, as well as your favorite printshop/printmaker jokes!

The deadline for submitting articles and images is July 31, 2016.

This issue, we will be joined by a special Guest Editor, Joseph Lupo, currently an Associate Professor of Art and Graduate Studies Coordinator at West Virginia University. His work deconstructs comic book imagery and narratives. Joseph’s work has been shown all over the country and is included in various permanent collections including the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Duke University, the Museum of Texas Tech University, and the Spencer Museum of Art. To learn more about Joseph Lupo and his work visit: josephlupo.com.

Length: 1500–2000 words for interviews and feature articles, 750 words for reviews of exhibitions and publications. Image submissions should include title, medium(s), size and date created. Please use Chicago Style with footnotes for all Citations.

All submissions must include a brief biography (100 words) and a color head shot. Images included should be 300 dpi, 12 inches on the longest side.
