Printmaking Splendor and Academic Transformation at WVU…

Greetings everyone, here’s a quick (text heavy) comic I made to shed some light on what is happening at the institution I work at, West Virginia University, and to thank all of you who have reached out over these last few days to offer support and help…I can’t fully explain what your text messages, phone calls, social media posts, and emails have meant to me…

This has been such an emotional rollercoaster, for 19 years, I’ve been privileged to have my dream job, a tenured professor of printmaking…I’m proud of the work I’ve done at WVU over these 19 years, I’m proud of all the students who I’ve been lucky enough to meet, work with, get to know personally, and watch live amazing lives, and I’m proud of my colleagues and our WVU School of Art and Design…

I realize there are larger systemic problems happening now, the world is literally on fire, racism and homophobia and transphobia is everywhere, anti-fat hate is rampant in our society…but I wanted to shed light on this one thing, happening in our community…it’s no secret we live in a country and under an economic system that does not value the arts and humanities, and does not value public education, ask any working artist and they will most likely tell you this…

thank you again for all your support, and thank you for reading…
