This summer I taught my elementary and junior high school printmaking summer workshop for BOPARC, Morgantown’s park district.
This summer we made sketchbooks that featured a two color print that features their name. Students used a 4×4” template to create a repeating pattern that could be transferred onto the linoleum, carved, then printed in sections. In our cityscapes projects we looked at reference photos of buildings in Morgantown and created new cityscape drawings. Students were asked to consider the architectural details that make buildings unique and visually interesting. We then then transferred those drawings onto our relief blocks, made prints, water colored a sky on a fresh sheet of paper then collaged the prints together to create the illusion of space.
